Today , I started to create my School magazine on Photoshop.Firstly, I gathered all of my portrait photo's together and chose the most effective images. I decided to call my magazine Brainy Brunel as this is the college I am at my school and I also wanted to use alliteration as I find this very eye catching.
I then chose the most best quality picture( which was a boy, I was meant to chose a girl but none of the pictures were decent quality enough there for I had to change some straplines to suit the front cover image) so I began to experiement with it.As this photo was taken in the studio, it had a plain white background so I looked though some pictures I had taken of the school and found some of the Brunel wall so I chose the most suitable one and cut out the image of the school boy and placed him on to the Brunel wall image.This took a while considering I had to Make the edges of the boy neat and not show the cut outs.
I then went on to www.dafont.com and found a neat and clear font, I changed the font colour to red as at our school the college 'Brunel' theme colour is Red.I then used one of my Straplines, I decided on the 'Brunel goes up and up to success!' as it looks more full on the page, I decided to put it in an italic font and yellow, to match the boys tie.This went right underneath the masthead.
As this is only a school magazine I didn't include a barcode because many schools will not have this equipment.I also didn't include a price list as mine is Free to all students in Brunel.I included the school logo, so this proves that the magazine is for students at The Leigh Technology Academy.
Down the right hand side there are two small story lines,Theres a Free Ipods! one and its for students who achieve 5 A*-C and 100% attendence through out year 11. The story underneath is about The Winning Dance Students are now World wide Champions.
All the advertisement cover lines on my front cover have a bigger and a red font and the explanations of the coverline is underneath in yellow text.
I like the way you have place part of the college as your background behind your main image. your use of colour is also good, except where the yellow meets the skin colour on the picture where it becomes harder to read. It is also clear how you have really developed you skills form here to your music magazine.
